Cardiac physiologists work in cardiology departments in hospitals and carry out cardiac tests on patients. They are experts in cardiology equipment, using it to monitor patients with heart problems. There are registers for cardiac physiologists which are accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.
The Academy for Healthcare Science is the overarching body for the whole of the Healthcare Science Profession, working to ensure that Healthcare Science is recognised and respected as one of the key clinical professions in the health and care system.
The Registration Council for Clinical Physiologists is an overarching register for a number of clinical physiology professions working in healthcare across the UK. The RCCP merged with the Academy of Healthcare Science in May 2021.
