Invitation to share experience of The Association of Traditional Chinese Medicine and Acupuncture (ATCM)
The Association of Traditional Chinese Medicine and Acupuncture (ATCM) has applied to the PSA for accreditation of its register of Chinese medicine practitioners. We will test how they meet our Standards for Accredited Registers.
The ATCM register states that its registrants have "completed a thorough training of at least three years in traditional Chinese acupuncture, or Chinese herbal medicine or both and bio medical sciences appropriate to the practice of TCM. They carry the letters MATCM after their name. The ATCM maintains common standards of education, ethics, discipline and practice to ensure the health and safety of the public at all times. Members are covered by Medical Mal-Practice and Public/Products Liability insurance."
More information about the ATCM can be found on their website: www.atcm.co.uk
We are interested to hear of your experience of the ATCM that could impact on their ability to comply with our nine Standards.
The deadline for sharing feedback with us is 1 October 2025. You can share your experience using our webform.
Invitation to share experience of The Complementary and Natural Health Council (CNHC)
The Complementary and Natural Health Council (CNHC) has submitted a notification of change to the PSA regarding two proposed modifications to their accredited register. We will assess how these changes impact their compliance with our Standards for Accredited Registers.
CNHC currently manages a register for complementary therapies covering 18 different disciplines.
The proposed changes are:
- Introduction of Neural Linguistic Programming (NLP) register: CNHC proposes to add NLP as a new therapy title to their existing register. NLP is described as a psychological approach focusing on the relationship between mind, language, and behavioural patterns, used to enhance self-awareness, improve communication skills, and foster personal development.
- Implementation of Accepted Outcomes: CNHC proposes to introduce the use of accepted outcomes by independent Case Examiners in their complaints procedures. This change aims to resolve concerns about registrants with their agreement and without the need for a panel hearing, potentially shortening resolution times and reducing stress for all parties involved.
Full details of the proposed changes can be found in CNHC's Notification of Change document: Notification of Change - CNHC (September 2025).pdf
More information about the CNHC can be found on their website: www.cnhc.org.uk
We are interested to hear of your experience of the CNHC that could impact on their ability to comply with our Standards, particularly in relation to these proposed changes.
The deadline for sharing feedback with us is 16 October 2025. You can share your experience using our webform.

Targeted Reviews
In some cases, we might need to undertake a Targeted Review of an Accredited Register. Below you will find links to Accredited Register directory pages if we are currently conducting a Targeted Review or we have published a Targeted Review report in the last 12 months.

Notifications of Change
Once accreditation has been granted, a register must tell us of any significant changes it has made or plans to make that may affect whether it meets our Standards for Accredited Registers. Below you will find links to Accredited Register directory pages if we are currently considering a notification of change or we have published a notification of change report in the last 12 months.

- Register of Clinical Technologists - Standard One Report (August 2024): We found that the public interest test was met. In the case of Sonographers, our Accreditation Panel also determined that the risks appear sufficiently high, and potential impacts on patient safety sufficiently great, to recommend that the four UK governments should consider whether accredited registration provides sufficient assurance or whether additional regulatory oversight might be needed.
