The Institute of Trichologists (IOT) holds a register of trichologists who diagnose and treat hair and scalp conditions. Registrants work primarily in private practice, helping clients with conditions such as hair loss and scalp disorders, and refer to other healthcare professionals when prescribed treatments are needed.

IOT Accreditation status
Every third year, we require Accredited Registers to complete a Full Renewal assessment. The full renewal assessment is a complete reassessment against all Standards. As part of this, we are inviting share your experience, evidence or views that could inform our assessment of the impact of renewing the IOT's accreditation.
The deadline for sharing feedback with us is by 6 November 2026.

IOT Condition Status

IOT Targeted Review Status
Following our most recent annual check we initiated a Targeted Review relating to 5 minimum requirements across Standards 2, 3, 5, 6 and 7. Following our review we issued five new Conditions. Our report on how the IOT addressed the Conditions can be downloaded here:
IOT Notification of Change status
The IOT has not told us about any changes that might affect its accreditation.
