Remembering Tom Frawley CBE, previous PSA Board member
25 Jun 2026
We are deeply saddened to learn of the passing of Tom Frawley CBE earlier this week. Tom was a Board member of the Professional Standards Authority from 2017 to 2024.
As a much loved and deeply respected leader, we know that others across the health and care system, and more broadly, will be as shocked and saddened at this news as we are.
Tom made an outstanding contribution during his years on the PSA Board. He was widely respected for his insight, integrity and commitment to public protection, and brought a wealth of experience to our work. His thoughtful challenge and support helped to shape the PSA’s approach during a period of important development, and his influence continues to be felt in the work we do today.
As a Board member for Northern Ireland, Tom played a particularly important role in strengthening our understanding of the devolved context. His knowledge and perspective helped ensure that our work more fully reflected the needs and distinct arrangements within Northern Ireland, contributing to more effective oversight and stronger public protection.
As was typical of Tom’s generosity and dedication, he continued to offer his insights and guidance on key issues affecting people’s health and care in Northern Ireland even after he had stepped away from his Board role. Tom will be remembered with great respect and affection by colleagues across the organisation, many of whom had also remained in touch with Tom as friends.
Our thoughts are with Tom’s family and friends at this difficult time.
