Caroline Corby to step down as Chair of the PSA

14 Oct 2026

After almost six years as Chair of the Professional Standards Authority (PSA), Caroline Corby will be stepping down from the PSA Board on 31 December 2026. Caroline has been appointed as the new Chair of the Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA) and will shortly be taking up this new role.

During her tenure at the PSA, Caroline has overseen:

  • Numerous improvements in the PSA’s oversight functions, including the introduction of new standards for regulators and Accredited Registers from July 2026.
  • The growth and development of the Accredited Registers programme.
  • Greater engagement with stakeholders across all four countries of the UK.
  • Key publications focused on improving the impact of regulation, such as Safer care for all (2022) and Right-touch regulation (2025).

Caroline leaves the organisation in a very strong position to continue its important mandate of protecting the public.

Alan Clamp, CEO of the PSA, said:

“I would like to thank Caroline, on behalf of the PSA Board, staff and stakeholders, for her excellent leadership over the last six years. She has made an enormous contribution to the PSA and it has been a privilege to work with her. We wish her every success at the SRA.”

The PSA will soon begin the process of recruiting a new Chair. The Board will be led by the Deputy Chair, Juliet Oliver, from 1 January 2027 until the new Chair is in place.
