Why the Review matters

The  PSA welcomed the Lord Mann Review into antisemitism and other forms of racism in the NHS. The Review highlights the profound impact that racism and antisemitism can have on individuals, workplaces and patient care, and provides an important opportunity to strengthen action across the health and care system.

Tackling racism, including antisemitism, is essential to maintaining fair, inclusive and trustworthy regulation of health and care professionals. The PSA is committed to supporting and driving progress in this area, working with regulators and other partners to ensure that the Review's recommendations lead to meaningful and lasting change.

Working with regulators

Since the review was published, we have been working with the professional regulators we oversee to shape a coordinated response to its recommendations. We have developed a high-level action plan to support timely delivery against the recommendations. Several recommendations relate directly to our role and expertise in bringing regulators together, promoting consistency, sharing good practice and developing guidance.

Taking coordinated action

As we take forward this work, we are considering where action can best be coordinated across the regulatory sector and where PSA oversight, support or leadership can add value. We will continue to work collaboratively with regulators and stakeholders to help ensure a coherent approach to tackling racism and antisemitism, improving professional cultures, and strengthening public confidence in health and care regulation.
