General Dental Council

GDC seeks views on 'shaping the direction of lifelong learning for dental professionals'

The The GDC is asking for views on shaping the direction of lifelong learning for dental professionals. The aim is to ensure that lifelong learning in dentistry continues to evolve to meet the expectations of the public, patients and dental professionals, in a way that is proportionate to risk, and flexible on how professionals go about reaching their development goals. The deadline for responses is 3 October 2019 and responses can be provided using an online survey or you can download the document.

Nursing and Midwifery Council

Future strategic direction

The NMC is seeking views on its future strategic direction. It is looking for feedback on a number of potential priority areas of work, including:

  • Dynamic approach to shaping practice
  • Building its relationship with the public
  • Strengthening the relationship with professions
  • Using and sharing research, data and intelligence
  • Closer collaboration with others

Pharmaceutical Society of Northern Ireland

Public consultation on joint GPhC/PSNI registration assessment

The PSNI’s Council has launched a consultation on its preferred option to develop a joint four-country wide final registration assessment with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC). While this is the PSNI Council’s preferred option, they are interested in feedback on the proposal from the public, pharmacists and stakeholders in Northern Ireland and will take into consideration responses received to the consultation before taking a final view. Social Work England

The  new regulator for social workers in England is carrying out several consultations.

Fitness to Practise

SWE is asking for views on a number of guidance documents that sit behind its rules. The three draft documents relate to how cases are progressed, decision-making at the triage and case examiner stages, and at final hearings. The deadline for responses is 11 October 2019. Continuing professional development

Continuing professional development (CPD) describes the reflection and learning activities which social workers undertake and record throughout their career to improve their practice and keep it up to date. SWE has put together a proposal with more detail on the process for how professionals should carry out and record their CPD. The deadline for responses is 17 October 2019. Registration

SWE is asking for feedback on a number of guidance documents on its registration rules. Three of the documents relate to registration are for applicants from the UK, the EEA and Switzerland, and overseas.
