On 19 September the Authority’s
Chair, George Jenkins, hosted an event at which we marked the achievements of our
Chief Executive, Harry Cayton CBE, during his 11 years at the Authority. The atmosphere reflected Harry himself,
lively, energetic, full of interesting discussion and good humour. We give
special thanks to our speakers, Sir Liam Donaldson, Fenella Morris QC and Irwin
Fefergrad and to our guests for making it a memorable occasion.
The event provided the opportunity for past colleagues and
staff of the Authority to catch up, including former Chairs Rosie Varley and Baroness
Jill Pitkeathley. It was also a chance for so many people connected to
improving public protection and patient safety to swap stories and network.
Attendees came from all four UK nations, but also further afield from Australia
and Canada. Read Harry's viewpoint where he outlines the key qualities he believes are necessary to succeed in professional regulation.
