Why is the PSA developing these two pieces of guidance for regulators?
The Government plans to change the legislation for nine out of the 10 healthcare professional regulators we oversee, giving them a range of new powers and allowing them to operate in a very different way.
The new powers will give regulators greater freedom to decide how they operate, including the flexibility to set and amend their own rules. It will also create an entirely new process for handling fitness to practise concerns (the process by which concerns about healthcare professionals are dealt with) allowing a quicker, less adversarial way to deal with concerns about professionals, outside of a public hearing.
Pam mae’r PSA yn datblygu’r ddau ddarn hyn o ganllawiau ar gyfer rheolyddion?
Mae’r Llywodraeth yn bwriadu newid y ddeddfwriaeth ar gyfer naw o’r deg rheolydd gofal iechyd proffesiynol yr ydym yn eu goruchwylio, gan roi ystod o bwerau newydd iddynt a chaniatáu iddynt weithredu mewn ffordd wahanol iawn.
Bydd y pwerau yn rhoi llawer mwy o ryddid i reolyddion benderfynu sut y maent yn gweithredu, gan gynnwys yr hyblygrwydd i osod a diwygio eu rheolau eu hunain. Bydd hefyd yn creu proses hollol newydd ar gyfer ymdrin â phryderon addasrwydd i ymarfer (y broses ar gyfer ymdrin â phryderon am weithwyr gofal iechyd proffesiynol) gan ganiatáu ffordd gyflymach a llai gwrthwynebus o ymdrin â phryderon am weithwyr proffesiynol, y tu allan i wrandawiad cyhoeddus.
