The PSA expresses its support for the GMC apology over historic sanctions based on convictions under homophobic laws

Today the General Medical Council (GMC) has issued a formal apology to doctors who were subjected to fitness to practise or other regulatory proceedings because of convictions under now-repealed homophobic laws.

Although these are historic cases, we believe that it is important to acknowledge the damage done and we welcome this apology and support the GMC in taking this step.

We believe that discrimination has no place in our health and care systems, or in society as a whole.
