Professional Standards Authority’s chair resigns

The Professional Standards Authority is sorry to announce that Baroness Jill Pitkeathley OBE, who has held the position of chair for the last six years has announced she is standing down. Harry Cayton, chief executive said, ‘Jill has been an outstanding chair. We have greatly valued her thoughtful and courteous leadership though a period when the Authority's role and reputation has grown significantly. She will be sadly missed by all our staff and our board’.

Baroness Pitkeathley said, ‘I am proud of all the Professional Standards Authority has achieved over the last six years. The Health and Social Care Act 2012 gave us new responsibilities and a new funding model. Now all those changes are in place, it is the right time for me to hand over to a new chair to lead the Authority into the future’.

Baroness Pitkeathley will remain in post until January 2016. The Professional Standards Authority is currently advertising for a new chair.
