Next steps for the health and social care workforce in Wales: recruitment, training and retention - 14 March, Cardiff
This Policy Forum for Wales seminar will provide an opportunity to discuss the future for the health and social care workforce in Wales and has been timed to follow Qualifications Wales’ review of Health, Social Care and Childcare qualifications – the draft of which proposed a new suite of qualifications for the sector – and is scheduled as the Nurse Staffing Levels Act, which sets out minimum staffing requirements, comes into force. Planned sessions will explore workforce planning across NHS Wales, including training and continuing professional development, funding for workforce development, and Welsh language training provision.
Further discussion will focus on tackling staff recruitment and retention challenges, the changing roles for health professionals such as community pharmacists, and the potential extension of the Nurse Staffing Levels Act.
