Welcome to the spring edition of ‘The Standard’
As health and care services come under increasing pressure, our work continues to protect the public, uphold standards and maintain public confidence. In the last year, we have reviewed over 4,000 decisions by regulators’ panels about registrants’ fitness to practise – the highest number ever. We have also won an important appeal about the treatment of vulnerable patients.
Chairs of the regulators’ fitness to practise panels recently spent the day with us to facilitate discussions around the common issues they face, as well as increase our understanding of their work.
Meanwhile, at our academic conference Building trust in people and places we listened to the results of excellent collaboration between regulators and researchers as collectively, we build an evidence base for regulation. Missed it? Watch highlights in our video.
In May, at our accredited registers conference, we will be given a preview of the results of the survey conducted as part of our joint project with the Royal Society for Public Health. The project is exploring how the 80,000-strong workforce on registers accredited by the Authority can support 40,000 public health workers with their mission to improve the public’s health.
