Regulators' update

The GOsC is consulting on new guidance about factors its Registrar will consider when an osteopath requests removal from the register (voluntary removal). This is usually a quick and straightforward process, except where a registrant is subject to an ongoing fitness to practise investigation. The Draft Guidance on Voluntary Removal Applications sets out the factors the Registrar will take into account. The closing date for responses is 30 November.

The HCPC is running several consultations:

  • Standards of education and training: the deadline for response is 25 November. HCPC plan to publish the final document in mid-2017 and the revised standards will be rolled out from the 2017-18 academic year
  • Revised guidance on confidentiality: HCPC is seeking views on a draft. This guidance aims to advise registrants about some of the issues relating to how they handle and share information about service users. The closing date for responses is Friday 13 January 2017
  • Continuing Professional Development and your registration: consulting on proposed changes to this guidance document. The closing date for responses is Friday 13 January 2017
  • Guidance on social media for registrants: seeking views on this draft aimed at providing guidance to registrants who use social media. It explains how to use social media in a way that meets HCPC’s standards. The deadline for responses is 13 January 2017.
