You can find out about our assessments of applications for the quality mark here.

To gain the Accredited Registers quality mark organisations have to prove that they are committed to public protection and that they meet the PSA’s high standards.

When organisations apply for the quality mark our assessment of their application is presented to an Accreditation Panel.

The Panel considers the evidence and assesses the application against each of our Standards for Accredited Registers. The Panel then decides whether to accredit the applying organisation and award the quality mark, accredit it with conditions, adjourn the meeting to seek further information, or refuse accreditation.

The Panel can issue Conditions and Recommendations for registers to fulfil:

Condition

A change that must be implemented within a specified timeframe to maintain accreditation. Issued when a Standard has not been met.

Recommendation

Actions that would improve practice and benefit the operation of the register, but do not need to be completed for compliance with the Standards to be maintained. Implementation of recommendations will be reviewed at annual renewal.

We will check if organisations have acted on recommendations as part of their annual review of accreditation and will stipulate a timeframe for any conditions to be implemented. Registers that are successful and achieve the quality mark are listed on Find a Register.
