Our Board

We are governed by a Board of eight members:

• A Chair appointed by the Privy Council
• Three non-executive members; one appointed by the Scottish Ministers, one appointed by the Welsh Ministers and the third appointed by the Department of Health, Social Services and Public Safety in Northern Ireland
• Three non-executive members appointed by the Secretary of State for Health and
• One executive member appointed by our Board itself.

Our Board is responsible for determining the overall policies that affect the way we carry out our business. It sets our strategic direction and approves the annual business plan and budget.

In January 2013, the 'Council' of the Council for Healthcare Regulatory Excellence became the 'Board' of the Professional Standards Authority for Health and Social Care. All members of the Council have been re-appointed to the Board.
